The First Concrete 3D Printed Houses in the world!

THE MILESTONE PROJECT

Great news once again for the 3D printing industry. This time in Architecture! A new project, “Milestone”, will take place in Eindhoven, where the first concrete 3D printed houses in the world will be built!

The news come from the Dutch website Dutchreview.com, which used a Leapfrog 3D printed sample of a house, to illustrate this innovative project and mention the benefits of 3D printing in Architecture. 3D printing allows objects to be any size, shape, material or geometry. This makes it ideal to print separate elements one needs for a house. Therefore, 3D printing is the solution to many long existing problems within architecture.

THIS CHANGE IN ARCHITECTURE ALTERS THE CONVENTIONAL METHOD OF SCALE MODEL MAKING WHICH HAS BECOME MORE CHALLENGING OR SIMPLY DOESN’T SUFFICE ANYMORE. THIS IS WHERE 3D PRINTING CAN BE AN IDEAL SOLUTION.”

ABOUT THE “MILESTONE” PROJECT

The municipality of Eindhoven, together with the Eindhoven University of Technology and four other companies, plans on building livable 3D printed concrete houses in 2019. This is a very innovative project since the houses will be the first of their kind in the world.

Project Milestone’s goal is to build a total of five habitable 3D printed houses in the neighborhood of Meerhoven. The plan is to build the houses one after another, having the first house printed off-site. The final house will be printed on-site and will have three floors. Lastly, all the houses will be built in accordance with the building regulations. This will guarantee satisfactory living conditions for the new residents.
